The Greygarth Monument
The Greygarth Monument was erected by local people to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897, and was restored in 1984.The monument you can see today replaced the original 'tall and pointed' tower which had been built to mark the extinction of wolves from the area. The first tower was weakened by gales, and finally blew down around 1890.
